When we left London today it was very cold, but it seemed like summer compared to what was waiting for us in Copenhagen. The flight was uneventful and the great surprise at the airport was that in addition to being spotlessly clean, it had a wooden floor. We suddenly realised just what a difference that made to the ease with which one could use pull-along luggage.

Virginia is a master (or should it be mistress) of what can only be called "travel-shmoozing." When we got to our hotel she whipped out a postcard of Hobart to tell the receptionist that we were from Crown Princess Mary's home town. It worked a treat. The delighted receptionist immediately gave us an upgrade to a much better room than we had paid for. In addition to having lots of space, we are just across the passage from a rather elegant sitting room. I told Virginia that if she could continue to work her magic I would pay for the supply of postcards.
Although it is cold (a high of 4 degrees today) and wet, what little we saw of the city promised many delights over the next few days. Sadly, the Tivoli Gardens are closed until 12 April so we will miss that, but there are many other attractions to which we are looking forward.
