Paris, 10 April 2012
A quiet first day spent getting organized. We bought our Navigo passes which allow us to use buses and the Metro. It is the most economical way of getting around. After that we went to the Nord-Sud, a local cafe for morning coffee and then on to get groceries. The basic supplies are purchased at Monoprix, the equivalent of Coles, Woolworths or Publix. The big news there was that they had, on the shelves, Tim-Tams, that well loved Australian delicacy. Tomorrow we intend to go into the centre of the city where we hope to find Vegemite.
Today was cold and rainy, but at 12 degrees it seemed like a heat wave compared to Copenhagen. In the afternoon Bruce went for a walk to the Place du Tertre and Sacre Coeur and later we both went to a cafe near the flat for a glass of wine. It doesn't take long to fall into the leisurely pace that is, for us at least, Paris.
